At Asahi Europe & International we want to be the enablers of meaningful human connection because togetherness is powerful. Together we can see more, feel more and change more for the planet, people and communities. Through our purpose of Creating Meaningful Connections, we are excited to announce the winner of our Lead2030 Challenge for #SDG10 and we warmly congratulate Nasreen Sheikh and Empowerment Collective. Empowerment Collective is dedicated to tackling modern slavery, forced marriage, and extreme poverty.

Today more than 40 million people are trapped in modern-day slavery. Over 70% are women and girls who have lost their freedom, basic human rights, and are being exploited for profit. Empowerment Collective’s programs in Nepal and India provide a safe environment for vulnerable women, offering training in entrepreneurial skills with fair trade industries, and education in menstruation health, human rights and environmental sustainability. This comprehensive model gives marginalized women the support and skills they need to ensure their self-sufficiency and dignity.

As the winner of the Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 10 supported by Asahi Europe & International, Nasreen will receive a US$50,000 grant to further develop Empowerment Collective, as well as mentorship from Asahi Europe & International professionals to help scale their impact. Responding to her selection Nasreen said:

“Empowerment Collective is so honored to be the recipient of the Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 10. We are humbled and touched by the team at One Young World and Asahi Europe & International and we look forward to working together to end modern day slavery in our lifetime.”

New LECH Nowy Staw III wind farm producing energy for Kompania Piwowarska

As of 2021, 100% of the electricity needs of the breweries owned by Kompania Piwowarska are covered with wind energy supplied by RWE. Our newly launched wind farm LECH Nowy Staw III is located near the town of Nowy Staw, about 50 km south-east of Gdansk. The LECH Nowy Staw III wind farm, owned and operated by RWE, is comprised of three turbines, which together have a total installed capacity of 12 megawatts (MW) and meets 54% of Kompania Piwowarska’s demand for electricity necessary to brew beer in the Dojlidy Brewery, Lech Browary Wielkopolski and Tyskie Browary Ksiazece, while the remaining 46% is already delivered by the existing wind farms in Nowy Staw.
