The annual charity event raised a great sum of money for disabled people. Everything was possible thanks to hand-made works of art – exclusive Pilsner bottles.

The 7th year of the charity auction of Pilsner Urquell design bottles for Centrum Paraple raised the total sum of 2 759 988 CZK, which is 1 076 843 CZK more than last year. The most expensive original bottle, designed by deFORM Studio, was sold for the incredible sum of 700 000 CZK.

The Christmas auction of Pilsner Urquell bottles is a traditional event to help Centrum Paraple, an NGO assisting people with spinal cord injuries and their families. This year, 10 unique bottles were sold, inspired by the 100th anniversary of independent Czechoslovakia. The bottles were sold to the highest bidders; the most successful one reached the record-breaking sum of 700 000 CZK, three times more compared to last year.

All proceeds went to Centrum Paraple.

History in Glass

Symbolically, the design was a joint effort of a Czech and a Slovak – Václav Mlynář and Jakub Pollág of deFORM Studio. The objective was to create a bottle to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovakia. A series of unique beer bottles was created, each of them original, referring to important milestones in our history: the establishment of Czechoslovakia in 1918, the end of World War II, the birth of Charter 77, and the Velvet Revolution.

Last year, 1.7 million CZK from the auction was used for the salaries of assistants, and purchases of sporting and therapeutic aids, such as special hand bikes for wheelchair users, and dancing wheelchairs.
